This Is My Fight

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

2 Corinthians 10:3-4

The war we fight is not man vs man. We do not pin sin on an individual or group, then seek to destroy them.

Rather, our focus is in the spiritual realm. We look to fight against the element and emotions that affect us every single day.

We struggle with lust, selfishness, anger, jealousy and desire. We struggle with traumatic events, self-definitions that do not truly reflect the identity of a child of God.

We struggle against ourselves. There is an unconscious and fleshly desire in our lives that want to pull us down. This is what we fight against.

How do I fight against myself? It is a war of years, decades, even a lifetime. The temptations and desires may seize me, but I can prevail through prayer, recognition of temptation and action.

Fasting is a powerful weapon against myself.

Accountability to others is another mighty weapon.

Building an atmosphere where God reigns is another armament which I can use to equip myself.

Ultimately, my decisions are what ultimately choose the outcome. I need to make sure my heart is pure and clean; seeking after God in every way.
